TypeWithAI Beta Now Open

My AI Typing Tutor, now with battle mode, is officially in open beta. You can try it right now at typewithai.com.
Why Battle Mode?
When I started building the AI Typing Tutor, I knew the technology was solid. Computer vision that can see your fingertips touching keys in real-time? That's genuinely useful for learning proper typing form. But useful and engaging are two different things—especially when your audience includes young people who don't use LinkedIn.
Battle Mode was created specifically to engage youth and spark a conversation about the importance of typing literacy. Let's face it: telling a kid to practice their typing because "it's important for their future" doesn't exactly light a fire. But challenge them to a typing battle? Now we're talking.
The Typing Literacy Gap
Here's an uncomfortable truth: typing instruction has largely fallen by the wayside. If you think Common Core has you covered, that's great. I'm willing to bet that many students are graduating without a serious typing education. They develop their own techniques, often inefficient ones, and those habits become deeply ingrained.
In an era where natural language is the interface between humans and AI, typing speed and accuracy matter more than ever. The faster you can articulate your thoughts, the more effectively you can collaborate with AI tools. Poor typing skills become a bottleneck.
Battle Mode for Engagement
If you want to go "hands on" with typing education, here's your chance. Battle Mode turns typing practice into a competitive experience:
- Local competition - Race against opponents in 1v1 turn-based typing challenges
- No webcam required - Jump straight into Battle Mode from any device with a keyboard
- FREE - No registration or tracking
Battle Mode is designed to be accessible—no special hardware or registration needed. Just open the site and start competing.
I considered building real-time head-to-head battles, but that would require two keyboards connected to the same device—a barrier to entry for most people. So for now, Battle Mode is turn-based. You and your opponent take turns on the same keyboard, keeping it simple and accessible. Real-time multiplayer over the network? Maybe someday.
Need to up your game? The full Tutor mode uses a webcam and computer vision to see your hand position through your webcam, providing feedback that traditional typing tutors simply can't: it sees how you're typing, not just what you type. But for Battle Mode, all you need is a keyboard and the will to win.
Try It Now

Head over to typewithai.com to try Battle Mode. You can also try the tutor for free and without registration for a limited time. This is still a beta, so expect some rough edges. Together we can ensure our youth are ready for the future.
As always contact me with any inquiries or feedback about TypeWithAI, this will likely be my last story on the subject for the near future so I can move on to other projects!
